Bodega Benegas

It is located in the Luján de Cuyo region, carril Ardoz (off route 60). This old winery belonged to the family of Gladys Alurralde Norton, who was the mother of Federico J. Benegas Lynch. Agustín Alvarez, Governor of the Province of Mendoza in those years, finished the construction in 1901. It is one of the few historic relics that remain from the old Mendoza of the end of the 19th century. It was made of adobe with a stone underground cave to stow casks and it has spacious areas to store bottles both in summer and in winter, for temperature variations are minimal.

Finca Libertad 2005
Finca Libertad 2005

This blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot (same combination as the Medoc) was produced with single vineyards grapes from Finca Libertad and captures all the elegance of these noble grapes combining them together in a wine of great fineness and complexity. Because of its aging potential the red color of this wine - deep and brilliant - will evolve into different shades of brick red, a typical feature that shows its elegance. These noble grapes provide the wine particular aromas. The Cabernet Sauvignon provides complexity, the Merlot its softness, and the Cabernet Franc (a variety present in the great Medoc, Saint Emillon and Pomerol), the special mint taste. The Syrah provides a hint of species and the Petit Verdot elegance. It is a wine with a strong personality in the mouth, surprisingly perfectly balanced and harmonious.
